You amaze me every day with what you do. Most mornings, you wake up, and you are cheerful, unless I don’t wake up before you, and then you’re a little impatient, but it’s understandable. Things have changed drastically this month. You are such a different baby. You can hold your head up the majority of the time, and you are pretty curious about many things.
The other day you discovered your hands. I watched you for about 10 minutes make fists, and then open them and look at your fingers. You’ve started to grab on to things, but you don’t quite know what to do after you grab on to something. You love grabbing on to momma’s hair (lesson learned), and shirt, and you have a puppy rattle that you have started to love. You will hold on to him and just stare at the patterns. It’s so amazing. You are so amazing.
You are a little over 11 pounds now; you have almost doubled your birth weight. I can’t believe that some people actually give birth to babies at the size you are now. Eek! You’ve moved up to the next level on your car seat, and we had to adjust the angle of it to match your new weight.
You love to smile, gurgle and coo. We’re working on laughing. I’ve heard you giggle a time or two, but nothing steady yet. For whatever reason, you love it when we stick our finger up your nose, and say, “Pick your nose!” That always gets a smile. Daddy is really pushing you to say da-da, but it’s a bit early for that.
You like music a lot. Well, that’s an understatement. You LOVE music. So much, that I gave you my MP3 player, loaded it up with Disney and Baby Einstein songs, and it plays non-stop in your room. You love it when I sing to you. Lucky for you, you don’t know what bad singing is, or I’d be in trouble. It’s also nice for us, because we can listen to a multitude of really annoying songs, instead of the same four now. Right now there’s only about 200 on there, but I’ve found roughly 900 more Disney and children’s songs to load you up with, so at least there is variety.
You sleep pretty well now. Your bedtime is still obnoxiously late at 2 am, but at least you’re sleeping until 8:30 or 9 am, and sometimes when I’m really lucky, it’s even longer than that. It’s a steady thing, and you have your own schedule. We can work out the details of it later, but it’s so nice now that it’s not an hour of sleep here, 30 minutes there, and sometimes no sleep at all. Thank you for that. It’s made life easier on all of us, including you.
For Mother’s Day, daddy promised me some pictures, and we finally got them done. You were really good, and out of the 60+ pictures we got, I don’t think any were bad. You had so many cute facial expressions that I had to buy an 8-slot frame to show them all.
Daddy’s favorite is this one, because he says you look like you’re plotting something evil:
For Father’s Day, you got daddy a nice toolbox, and he loved it. No breakfast in bed though, since his work schedule is crazy, and he wakes up at night.
I have to admit, I am a little sad as to how fast you are growing up. I wish I could keep you my little baby forever, but I am also really enjoying watching you develop and discover your world. No one tells you how amazing it is to watch something you created grow up.
I love you more and more every day! I can’t wait to see what next month brings.
Love,
Momma
