Simple Charity...

First things first:  Jason is typing a post as we speak... Oh my god, he's being involved.  Be amused.  ;)

649a1f9d11db6b6559448f0Second, this morning I was reading a blog, that I have frequented for years, Das Becca, she mentions in this post, about a girl named Ellie, and linked to a previous post of hers, which I must have missed.  Basically, it is about a little girl, Ellie, suffering from a brain tumor, who loves to receive cards.  However, unlike many hoaxes out there, this one is real.  I, of course, being the sap that I am teared up, as I read the entry, and went to the website for Ellie.  Then today, at work, while flipping through a Woman's Day, I found her ad for St. Jude's.  It's her, with her bald little head, and surgery scars, with big bold letters, "Ellie vs. Brain Tumor"  and then down the side, it says something along the lines of "let's help Ellie win."  (Edit: Found it, finally.) That was it for me.   What a brave and bold image. So tonight, I am getting her a Christmas card, and sending it off with pictures of our dogs with Santa.  I hope she will appreciate them, if I was 5, I know I'd get a kick out of it.  :P

Anyway, I encourage you all to do something as simple as buy a card and send it off to this little girl.  She is so stinkin' cute.  :)  If I can retain this information for long, I think I may send her a card every month until I forget... or they get returned because she is sent home clean and clear of cancer.  :)

I have seen this girl several times on TV and now she has a St. Judes commercial with Jennifer Anniston. It is very touching. It makes me think that I was lucky that my children only have asthma.

I definitely commend her parents, I don't know what I would do in their shoes, hell I'd freak out if my kid had a bump on the knee. :P I flip out enough with Jason alone if he has trouble breathing...
